BIOREF European Master Concludes Another Successful Edition

On 28 September 2026, the closing ceremony of the BIOREF European Master programme took place, marking the end of another successful edition of one of Europe’s most recognised programmes in bioeconomy, industrial biotechnology and sustainable biomass utilisation. The Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology at PK Krakow University of Technology (PK KUT) was represented at the ceremony by Prof. Izabela Czekaj and Dr Natalia Sobuś. For several years, they have taught students of the programme, sharing their expertise in catalysis, biomass valorisation, biofuel technologies and sustainable chemical processes.

A programme shaping future experts
BIOREF brings together leading European universities and industrial partners to train specialists ready to tackle the challenges of the energy transition, the circular economy and the development of modern biorefineries. Thanks to its international character, participants gain interdisciplinary skills at the intersection of biotechnology, chemical engineering and environmental technologies.
Words of thanks
Special thanks go to Mickaël Capron, the programme coordinator, whose vision, commitment and perseverance in building international academic cooperation have contributed greatly to the success of BIOREF European Master. Important contributions to the programme’s development were also made by long-standing collaborators and lecturers, including Gennaro Agrimi, Angela Dibenedetto and Pauline Marty.
A special meaning for PK KUT
Participation in BIOREF has special significance for our university. PK KUT’s involvement in the project was initiated by the late Prof. Elżbieta Skrzyńska-Ćwiąkalska, whose vision of internationalising education and European cooperation laid the foundation for the university’s participation in this prestigious initiative.
Looking ahead
The ceremony was an opportunity to reflect on the programme’s achievements so far and to discuss its future. All partners share the hope that BIOREF will continue in the coming years, educating new generations of experts who support the development of a sustainable, renewable-resource-based economy.
Congratulations to all graduates!
