Project value: 1,916,186.40 PLN

Project objective: The “Centrer for Education and Didactic Innovation” (CEID) project aims to systematically strengthen the quality of didactics at the Cracow University of Technology by developing support structures and programs for improving didactic, digital, universal design, and green transformation competencies. It includes the establishment of a new CEID unit, training of mentoring staff, a pilot series of training courses, and expert pathways – thus responding to the identified needs of the university and aligning with the University Strategy’s objective 1.4, improving the quality of education, and 1.5.2, equalizing educational opportunities within the framework of improving the student and doctoral student support program.

Anticipated main results:

Creation of a permanent, integrated system for the development of didactic, digital, universal design, and green transformation competencies for PK staff through the establishment of CEID, preparation of mentors, and implementation of a comprehensive training program.

  • Establishment of CEID — Transformation of the E-learning Centre into a new unit, the Centre for Education and Didactic Innovation (CEID), comprising three sections (mentoring, digital and green competencies, universal design), along with full organizational support: regulations, roles, quality procedures, and principles of cooperation
    with PK units.
  • Strengthening the quality assurance system for didactics — Implementation of training evaluation mechanisms, a feedback collection system, and ensuring permanent organizational support for the university’s development activities.
  • Increasing accessibility — Employment of a person with a disability in CEID administration (0.5 FTE), strengthening the unit’s inclusivity.
  • Building the Academy of Mentors — Recruitment and training of 20 disciplinary mentors in four key areas: modern teaching methods, digital competencies, universal design, green transformation.
  • Raising the competencies of didactic staff and doctoral students — Conducting a pilot program for 100 individuals, including workshops and a feedback session, carried out using a project-based method in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Implementation of an interdisciplinary project work model — Application of project methods, testing, and experience exchange as a standard in training.
  • Implementation of expert pathways — Providing an extended development program for 120 individuals, including language courses, intensive didactic workshops (PBL, CSBL, Design Thinking, Flipped Classroom), and specialized training in digital competencies, green transformation, and UDL.
  • Strengthening the practical application of competencies — Conducting courses in small groups, using a project-based method, with an emphasis on implementing learned tools in didactic practice.

Target group: The target group is the Cracow University of Technology, which will be strengthened
by a new unit implementing the University Strategy, thereby improving the quality of education at PK. The project will directly support 120 individuals (48 women, 72 men), including: 50 doctoral students (21 F/29 M) and 70 didactic staff (48 F/72 M) of the Cracow University of Technology (PK), who play a key role in the education process at PK.

  • creation of two new specializations in second-cycle studies in the fields of Computer Science (specialization: Site Reliability Engineering) and Civil Engineering (specialization: Civil Engineering in Nuclear Energy);
  • implementation of additional educational elements for students of the supported fields and specializations, including training, workshops, domestic and international study visits, and internships;
  • development of competencies and qualifications of staff conducting didactics in the aforementioned fields and specializations, through the possibility of participating in a wide range of specialized training, workshops, and study visits;
  • equipping university didactic laboratories with modern equipment (e.g., electrical energy storage, multiphase protection tester, large-format 3D printers, workstations, phytotron chambers) and specialized software and cloud infrastructure for conducting classes within new and modified study programs.

The Partner, i.e., NCBJ, is involved in the modification of study programs, the development of project participants’ competencies, and the implementation of education in the field of Nuclear Energy and in the new specialization Civil Engineering in Nuclear Energy.

Target groups: PK Krakow University of Technology. Direct support will be provided to 48 (18 F/30 M) academic teachers and 138 (46 F/92 M) students of the fields and specializations supported within the project.

Anticipated main results: Training of highly qualified staff with advanced engineering competencies, crucial for the technological, energy, and industrial security of the state and the resilience of critical infrastructure, as well as lasting cooperation with the socio-economic environment ensuring the topicality of content, compliance of learning outcomes with European regulations, and close linkage of didactics with industrial, R&D, and implementation activities.
