PK Krakow University of Technology (PK KUT), in cooperation with Università degli Studi di Cagliari (UniCa), has become a beneficiary of European Funds under the NAWA Katamaran programme for the implementation of the project: “DUALECO – two universities, one goal”. The project aims to strengthen and develop the existing double degree programme conducted by CUT and UniCa for English-speaking second-cycle students in the field of environmental engineering. The programme involves student mobility, completing part of the studies at the partner university, preparing one joint diploma thesis under the supervision of advisors from both universities, and obtaining diplomas issued by both institutions. The project also includes training for the staff of both universities, aimed at strengthening teaching competencies and improving the quality of education within international cooperation.

Target group: the recipients of the project activities are Polish and Italian second-cycle students participating in the double degree programme between CUT and UniCa (a total of 14 people) and teaching staff conducting classes in this programme (15 people).

Project value: PLN 1,495,213.00

The aim of the project is to improve the quality and attractiveness for students of the existing double degree programme conducted by PK Krakow University of Technology and Università degli Studi di Cagliari, by:

  • strengthening the existing system of financial and substantive support for students undertaking a 2-semester stay at a foreign university;
  • developing the competencies of teaching staff in education in an international environment;
  • strengthening the lasting international partnership between both universities.

The project “DUALECO – two universities, one goal” will be implemented in close cooperation between the two partner universities, CUT and UniCa.

It includes student and staff recruitment, organization of international mobility within the double degree programme, payment of scholarships, and student support activities such as adaptive training, additional lectures, courses, and study visits.

The project also plans training for the teaching staff of both universities, combined with working meetings aimed at developing the competencies needed to conduct international study programmes. An important element will be the verification of the effects of student mobility and staff training, including the assessment of acquired competencies and qualifications. PK KUT will be primarily responsible for organization, payments, purchases, and contact with NAWA, while UniCa will cooperate in recruitment, mobility, training, verification of results, and project management.

Project results will significantly support the achievement of medium- and long-term internationalization goals of both partner universities, by improving the quality and visibility of the double degree programme, increasing student mobility, and developing the teaching staff’s competencies. The project will also help reduce financial, programmatic, and administrative barriers, creating a lasting foundation for further development of cooperation between both universities and the possibility of extending the developed model to other fields of study and international partnerships.
