With three top A+ categories and an&nbsp;A&nbsp;category for a&nbsp;fourth discipline, PK&nbsp;Krakow University of&nbsp;Technology once again ranks among Poland&#8217;s&nbsp;leading research institutions. &#8220;This result shows we&#8217;re&nbsp;on&nbsp;the right track, setting ourselves ambitious goals. We&#8217;re&nbsp;building a&nbsp;university we&nbsp;can be&nbsp;proud of. The decisions were based on&nbsp;a&nbsp;thorough assessment conducted by&nbsp;the Committee for the Evaluation of&nbsp;Science, using categories the Committee proposed. The evaluation&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;conducted&nbsp;once every four years&nbsp;&#8211; is&nbsp;aimed at&nbsp;providing an&nbsp;objective, equal-criteria assessment of&nbsp;the quality of&nbsp;scientific activity at&nbsp;Polish institutions. PK&nbsp;Krakow University of&nbsp;Technology submitted its research activity for evaluation across 8 scientific disciplines, reflecting the research focus of&nbsp;staff across the university&#8217;s&nbsp;8 faculties. All disciplines received high ratings, securing full academic rights&nbsp;&#8211; including the right to&nbsp;award doctoral and postdoctoral (habilitation) degrees and to&nbsp;independently run degree programmes&nbsp;at&nbsp;our Doctoral School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Top A+ category awarded to&nbsp;three disciplines<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following disciplines received an&nbsp;A+ rating, the highest possible score in&nbsp;the evaluation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u27a1\ufe0f Architecture and Urban Planning<br>\u27a1\ufe0f Civil Engineering, Geodesy and Transport<br>\u27a1\ufe0f Mechanical Engineering<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The A+ category is&nbsp;awarded to&nbsp;leading institutions with the highest quality of&nbsp;research and achievements comparable to&nbsp;the best European scientific institutions. This rating goes to&nbsp;select units that meet the requirements of&nbsp;category A&nbsp;and, based on&nbsp;a&nbsp;separate expert assessment, stand out&nbsp;due to&nbsp;an&nbsp;exceptionally high level of&nbsp;scientific activity. The research activity behind these A+-rated disciplines is&nbsp;concentrated at&nbsp;CUT&#8217;s&nbsp;Faculty of&nbsp;Architecture, Faculty of&nbsp;Civil Engineering, and Faculty of&nbsp;Mechanical Engineering. For years, these faculties have been building their position among leading research centres in&nbsp;their fields in&nbsp;Poland and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Strong results across the board<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chemical Engineering&nbsp;&#8211; associated primarily with the research activity of&nbsp;staff at&nbsp;the Faculty of&nbsp;Chemical Engineering and Technology, received a&nbsp;very good A&nbsp;rating. High B+ categories were awarded to: Automation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Space Technologies (Faculty of&nbsp;Electrical and Computer Engineering); Technical Computer Science and Telecommunications (Faculty of&nbsp;Computer Science and Mathematics); Materials Engineering (Faculty of&nbsp;Materials Engineering and Physics); and Environmental Engineering, Mining and Power Engineering (Faculty of&nbsp;Environmental Engineering and Energy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Confirming CUT&#8217;s&nbsp;research strength<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These evaluation results once again place PK&nbsp;KUT among Poland&#8217;s&nbsp;strongest research universities. They confirm the quality of&nbsp;research carried out by&nbsp;our scientists, as&nbsp;well as&nbsp;its real impact on&nbsp;the development of&nbsp;society and the economy. The&nbsp;main criteria considered in&nbsp;the 2022-2025 evaluation included: the scientific level of&nbsp;the activity conducted, the financial outcomes of&nbsp;research and development work, and the impact of&nbsp;scientific activity on&nbsp;the functioning of&nbsp;society and the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<em>I&nbsp;would like to&nbsp;thank the entire PK&nbsp;Krakow University of&nbsp;Technology community for their contribution to&nbsp;this success. Behind it&nbsp;lies immense work, talent, research perseverance, and commitment from our scientists, doctoral students, administrative teams, and everyone who supports scientific activity at&nbsp;our university,<\/em>&#8221; underlines Rector Prof. Andrzej Szarata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<em>I&nbsp;extend special congratulations to&nbsp;the communities of&nbsp;the faculties representing the disciplines that received A+ and A&nbsp;categories. Such a&nbsp;prestigious assessment is&nbsp;the result of&nbsp;many years of&nbsp;systematic scientific effort, cooperation with partners in&nbsp;Poland and abroad, and successfully linking research with the needs of&nbsp;the economy and society. The obtained result is&nbsp;a&nbsp;source of&nbsp;pride and satisfaction for PK&nbsp;KUT. It&nbsp;shows that we&nbsp;are on&nbsp;the right path, setting ourselves ambitious goals<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Looking ahead: Research University status<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the ambitious challenges CUT has taken on, thanks to&nbsp;the consistent implementation of&nbsp;its research development strategy and strong evaluation results, is&nbsp;its application to&nbsp;the second edition of&nbsp;the Excellence Initiative \u2013 Research University competition. CUT submitted its application in&nbsp;June 2026. The university earned the right to&nbsp;participate in&nbsp;the competition based on&nbsp;its strong evaluation results for 2017-2021 as&nbsp;well. &#8220;Taking part in&nbsp;the Excellence Initiative \u2013 Research University competition marks an&nbsp;important stage in&nbsp;our university&#8217;s&nbsp;development.
